Maradona claimed national team manager Carlos Bilardo “betrayed him” and off “working in the shadows to oust him” after Argentina’s quarterfinal exit at the World Cup 2010. Maradona also accused AFA president Julio Grondona of lying about his future.

Maradona’s twenty months reign as Argentina manager ended on Tuesday after he rejected the demands to change his backroom team. “Grondona told me that he wanted me to continue as the coach, but that seven people from my coaching squad would have to go, that was impossible for me to agree to do” Maradona said on Wednesday.

“He knows that it is impossible for me to stay as coach without my colleagues. When he told me this, he was saying that he didn’t want me to carry on in the job.”

At the press conference Maradona read from a prepared speech for 12 minutes before leaving without taking questions as many of the assembled journalists applauded him.

Argentina under 20 team coach Sergio Bautista has become caretaker boss following Madonna’s departure. Bautista played alongside Maradona at the 1986 World Cup which Argentina won, and the manager was Bilardo.

Manning is thought to have accessed a worldwide military classified Internet and e-mail system to download these documents. The FBI is assisting the Defence Department in the investigation.

An unnamed Pentagon official said investigators believe Manning logged into a system called the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network which provides members of the military who have appropriate security clearances, access to classified e-mails and the military’s classified Internet system. Passwords and physical access are needed to log onto the system that provides information classified at the highest level.

Officials from the Pentagon said that the only information and material they have seen on a WikiLeaks.org this material classified as secret, which is a relatively low-level designation that allows access by a large number of military personnel.

Julian Assagne, the editor in chief of WikiLeaks.org has refused to say where his website obtained 90,000 US documents about the Afghan war. The majority of the documents were posted on the website last Sunday and has been called the biggest against leak since the Pentium papers about the Vietnam War.

Private Manning was first charged in June with eight violations of the US criminal code for allegedly transferring classified data including an earlier video that finished up on WikiLeaks.org. The private had top-secret clearance as an intelligence analyst for the Army when he was stationed in Iraq.

The parliament of Catalonia in eastern Spain has voted to ban bullfighting. This is the first region of mainland Spain to take this step.

The vote was a result of a petition sent to parliament and signed by 180000 people who say that the practice of bullfighting is a barbaric and out dated. The ban takes effect in January 2 012. In Wednesday’s vote 68 voted for, 55 voted against the ban and nine people abstained.

Supporters of bullfighting insist it is an important Spanish tradition to preserve and they also fear that the vote could be the first of many throughout the regional parliaments of Spain.

Bullfighting has long been a part of Spanish culture. It is not only practiced in Spain but in Mexico and other parts of Latin America including Peru. In Europe bullfighting takes place in Portugal and the south of France but in these places the bull is not killed in the ring.

The vote in the Catalan parliament was very close as the two main parties allowed their members to vote according to their conscience. The debate and a vote might be over animal rights but many people believe this is an attempt by the Catalans to mark their difference from the rest of Spain by rejecting this most visible of Spanish traditions. Possibly they see this as a step towards independence for the nationalistic minded Lands.

Today’s modern young Spanish people are more interested in animal rights and against cruelty to animals than their parents and grandparents. The majority of the world outside of the bullfighting countries abhor this so-called sport and now the Spanish people themselves are becoming the same.

“The industry needs to re-evaluated safety” Hayward told in investment professionals in a webcast. Everyone will need to re-evaluate the business model to reduce risk associated with deepwater drilling” Hayward added.

BP has always maintained that it does not deserve all the blame for the April accident and its subsequent pollution and intends to pursue legal action against its trading partners for a sharer of the cleanup and containment costs. Those partners include rig operator Transocean, the blowout preventer builder Cameron and Halliburton.

“It is clear the accident was the result of multiple equipment errors and human error involving many companies,” Hayward said in the webcast.

“From the beginning of the crisis, I’ve sought to do the right thing, do it the right way and communicate openly,” said Hayward.

Eleven workers died when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sank in the Gulf of Mexico on 20 April. From that day until July 15 when a cap was sealed over the wellhead oil flowed into the Gulf at the rate of tens of thousands of barrels a day.

Greenpeace claimed closing 46 stations from two to several hours but BP said the number was actually 40 stations. Protesters entered the stations to drop off a letter and pulled a safety switch that cut off power as theta were leaving. BP signs were also covered with posters reading, “Closed: Moving beyond petroleum” which is a play on the BP slogan “Beyond petroleum.”

The affected stations were mostly open again for business during the afternoon with some not expecting to open until early evening. Not all of them were actually owned by BP but are dealer owned selling BP gas.

Greenpeace stated that it was simply targeting stations selling BP product and their spokesperson Beth Herzfeld said they “don’t want to make anyone suffer.”

“We’re sorry for any problems that are caused, but the petrol that are sold in these businesses are BP,” she further said “BP is determined to chase the last drops of oil, whatever the cost to the natural environment and people’s health.”

The protest came shortly after BP announced a large $17.15 billion loss in the second quarter as a result of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and the ongoing clean up and compensation payments.

After only three songs the base guitar player Jared Followill was hit in the face and mouth by pigeon droppings.

The band later apologized to fans via Twitter saying “it was too unsanitary to continue. Jared was hit several times during the first two songs but once he was hit on the face it was time to call a stop to the concert”.

Earlier the opening acts The Postelles and The Stills had also come off the stage after their equipment was covered in the pigeon excrement.

The Grammy winning Kings of Leon are due to continue the tour in Cleveland Ohio on Monday following the incident in St. Louis. They are currently promoting their latest album, Only By The Night, and our due to visit the UK later this summer. Fans who were at the abandoned concert will be offered refunds.

The Nashville group is made up of three brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared along with cousin Matthew who plays on lead guitar.
